first, some non-fake news.

I have some nonfictional fiction news to share…

Admittedly I’ve been away from blogging for a while, first physically on a madcap trip through Europe with my husband, and then mentally on a sobering slog through U.S.elections. Did I NaNo? No, I couldn’t find the energy to WriMo. But I forced myself to keep a modicum of novel momentum somewhere between scrambling eggs with a cracker in my London Airbnb (because no spatula) and hoarding canned goods for my post-election American bunker (because no hope).

I focused my time on cleaning up ten pages and pulling together an application for a novel intensive at GrubStreet, where I had such a great experience over the summer. And I’m excited to be able to say that I’ve been accepted into the next Novel Generator, starting in January. I’ll be spending the next nine months writing furiously to finally knock out my full first draft (cue the movie montage).

I imagine I’ll have a lot (of coffee drinking and hair pulling) to share along the way, so stay tuned.

That reminds me – I’ll need to pick up some Nescafe and typewriter ribbon for the bunker.

Outside my beloved Waterstone’s on Gower Street in London (right near my alma mater UCL).
